Half Past Life

Episode 1 - Rufasa...My Village!

The scenically painted ghats of the Amratila, have always amazed me for the past 19years! It's an ever wonderous day filled with the scintillating smell of adventure for anyone, with a heart filled of curiosity and a mind that can relish the awe of nature, at Amratila.

I just can't stop talking about it even after all these years, because  surprisingly, the same place you have been to yesterday, turns out to host a new view, a changed terrain, a challenging foray and a mysterious fragrance, today!

Amaratila is one of the longest and least explored mountain ranges of Telisi. We all boast of being from the leniage of the most mysterious and sacred man that ever walked on this great land...His Excellence and Holiness Jaspertan Leswinger.

My grandmother has great respect for His holiness Jaspertan Leswinger, our great grandfather from 7th generation of Leswingers, the mightiest and longest rulers of the land of Telisi. She even says that his exuberantly bright, divinely crafted  lethal sword "Mingo Tarazi" is still worshipped by the Huzuras and Wangotilas alike. It's a mystery how he passed on but my grandmother, like many elders of the land, believe that he is still alive in the great mountain ranges of Amaratila. " Who else but he, protects us from immeasurably dark and deep miseries caused by the Habikas and Dikashis who have haunted Telisi for centuries" she proudly states almost everyday.

"It is all Thanks to his vast knowledge of herbs and medicinal plants that cover the ghats of Amartila...and his rock-solid determination to peopogate this knowledge to the generations to come, that we have so many doctors treating us of so many diseases today" she says in her old feable voice that's hard to hear sometimes.

"7000 years and still alive?
Ridiculous!" I say to my grandmother. Every time I say that, she has a mysterious smile in her almost closed eyes and a dimple on her old wrinkled cheek that seldom gets noticed by anyone. She then gives a big deep sigh and says " Only time will tell you Mr. Ranglord Leswinger!" and slowly walks away with the help of her mysterious looking walking stick. She barely takes support from it, but the striped staff with a red cloth and a few ancient talismans tied on the top of it has been the trademark of Mrs. Lesilla Leswinger for decades now.

"Hey Rang... it's almost time... let's get the count of our sheep and head back to the village soon..." shouted Waziro.

A startled soul i was, for a long time,  staring at the setting sun with the curiosity of a child.

A sigh of disappointment with a tint of joy brought me back to Amaratila and my small close knit village of Rufasa. I slothyly murmured "Seranemo Wazi" as we walked towards the Great Gambunza tree. It's the biggest tree of our village and probably entire Amaratila! It can be seen from any point in Rufasa.

As the sunset dawns, the number of of birds, insects and other creatures visiting the gigantic Gambunza increase exponentially. So much so, that sometimes we feel that it is already dark just because of the number of birds flying over it. Now, before it gets too dark, we need to get back to our villages with the sheep. The sheep being short sighted, always have to be led by humans just like we are always led by God who takes care of our shortsightedness - says my father, Mr. Ziglord Leswinger.

He is a Joyful person who loved his family so much so that he wouldn't think twice, throwing himself at danger, to keep us all safe. His family included
His bright eyes always kept some secrets and his ever smiling face was the trademark of our family across the village of Rufasa.
